Heal Yourself with Conscious Writing

mandala-1302804_640I’ve worked with many writers over the years who feel that writing is an absolute lifeline they can’t do without. Zen Buddhist, teacher and author Gail Sher says that it saved her life. Others feel that it restores their sanity in a crazy and chaotic world.

The therapeutic benefits of writing are well documented and include easing the feelings of emotional trauma, reducing stress, solving problems more effectively and even speeding up physical healing.

Conscious Writing incorporates all of these and guides us into the deepest realms of true healing; healing that restores our innate sense of wholeness.

Whether we realize it or not, we all have what we could call an ‘original wound’ which is the convincing illusion of separation from oneness with all that is.

Healing this primal wound happens naturally when we dissolve everything that gets in the way of us realizing our true nature as an expression of wholeness and transform our lives to become authentic reflections of our soul.

So how does Conscious Writing contribute to this core process of healing and transformation?

Essentially it teaches us to write from the level of our true self, the fundamentally whole part of us that is free from the conditioned thoughts and feelings of our everyday self which sees everything as separate.

It includes a range of tools and techniques as well as a specific process that brings us into alignment with our true nature in order to express ourselves authentically on the page and in the world.

The depth of this inward journey is inherently transformative, profoundly healing and creatively enriching. We clear mental and emotional blocks, and gain access to ideas and insights we would never come up with through regular thought and imagination alone.

Healing Into Wholeness

This is how we set ourselves free to create and write what we’re here to create and write, and in the process, heal ourselves back to wholeness.

With this in mind, the Conscious Writing core principle of alignment stands out as an especially powerful catalyst for healing and transformation.

When you align your head with your heart, body and soul, it’s like the cogs of the wheel click into place and your whole system is restored to its natural state of health and harmony.

A Regular Wholeness Practice

lotus-1205631_640One of the recommendations I always make to the people I work with individually is to start or recommit to a regular practice of wholeness based on the principle of alignment.

There are a number of different ways this can be interpreted and made relevant for you as an individual yet the core components include making it a priority to:

  • Move, stretch, energize and inhabit your body fully to tap into its innate healing and creative powers.
  • Breathe deeply and exhale completely as a practice in its own right to clear the channels of connection between your body, mind and soul.
  • Include inspiring and joyful activities in your daily life to release feel good hormones into your system and nurture your creative spirit.
  • Meditate or use any alternative that brings your mind to stillness which is naturally restorative for your whole system as you release the stresses and strains of everyday life.
  • Write regularly in your journal to clear your internal space and make way for you to enjoy creative project writing of all kinds for your blog, book or business communications.

Conscious Writing includes so much more than merely putting ink on paper in the form of words. However creatively inspired those words may be, they represent just the tip of the iceberg.

Any degree of genuine commitment to incorporating the other 90% below the surface of the ‘water’ which Conscious Writing points you towards as preparation before you write will ultimately lead you to heal yourself at every level. And what an amazing journey it all turns out to be!
