Create Space for Conscious Creativity

August 3, 2016

zen-970477_640From the earliest times, sages and mystics have shared an abundance of secrets for waking up to our true nature and becoming fully conscious.

Even the simple yet timeless technique of paying attention to the flow of the breath in and out of our body is a powerful way to still the chatter of our everyday mind and open the way for deeper levels of awareness to arise.

As we increasingly open to there being more to life than meets the eye, we discover a naturally occurring creative impulse that seeks expression in the world.

Making space for a conscious approach to expressing this creative impulse leads us to discover our true calling and make the contribution we’re here to make. Ultimately we reap the full rewards of conscious and creative living as our lives become an authentic reflection of our soul.

What is conscious creativity?

Conscious creativity is a combination of self-realization (conscious) and self-expression (creativity). It’s a holistic way to align ourselves with the creative flow of life and validate the inclination we all have for authentic self-discovery and expression.

Confident Creating

May 13, 2013

I am delighted to introduce this guest article from IACCW Expert Eric Maisel. Enjoy!

If you want to live a creative life and make your mark in some competitive art field like writing, film-making, the visual arts, or music, and if at the same time you want to live an emotionally healthy life full of love and satisfaction, you need an intimate understanding of certain key ideas and how they relate to the creative process.

One key idea is that you must act confidently whether or not you feel confident. You need to manifest confidence in every stage of the creative process if you want to get your creative work accomplished. Here’s what confidence looks like throughout the creative process.

Stage 1. Wishing

‘Wishing’ is a pre-contemplation stage where you haven’t really decided that you intend to create. You dabble at making art, you don’t find your efforts very satisfying, and you don’t feel that you go deep all that often. The confidence that you need to manifest during this stage of the process is the confidence that you are equal to the rigors of creating. If you don’t confidently accept the reality of process and the reality of difficulty you may never really get started. (more…)

How to Strengthen Your Writing With Silence

April 8, 2013

“Let us be silent, that we may hear the whispers of the gods.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Silence is one of the most significant components of the creative writing process. It is the alpha and omega of Conscious Writing, and invites readers into the essence of the stories you are telling and the ideas you are sharing.

Writing with silence leads to active participation from your readers who use their imagination to complete the picture your words are painting in the most meaningful way for them as individuals.

Powerful writing is punctuated with silence that creates space for your readers to experience the living reality beyond and through your words. As a result, your writing has immense depth and a memorable impact.

“He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words.” Elbert Hubbard

Fire Up Your Imagination to Write

July 25, 2011

2011-07-15 21.45.20Most writers know the feeling of creative abundance. The energy of it sparkles, ideas are plentiful, there is a natural sense of infinite possibility and a real clarity of focus.

Yet how often is that feeling fully present? For many writers, the answer to that question is not often enough!

We forget that putting energy out to the world on a constant basis means that we need to replenish our inner creative well regularly. Unless we do so, we end up having to write despite feeling depleted just to get our writing done.

Even if we understand the importance of nurturing our creative soul, other commitments and priorities – real or imagined – frequently take precendence.

Breaking through onto a new level of creative abundance with your writing requires a conscious choice to fan the flames of your creative fire. So how do you fire up your imagination to write?

How Balance Supports You to Succeed as an Author

June 28, 2010

There are 7 Core Principles underlying the success of every conscious and creative writer. These principles are all about accessing the right state of consciousness and applying the right mindset to your writing, and to all activities relating to your authorship, for the best results at every level.

The fourth core principle is Balance and refers to the point of equilibrium between opposites such as yin and yang, being and doing, receiving and giving, stillness and action.

Each carries the seed of its opposite and perfect balance is found when you embrace the paradox that both can be simultaneously true! So there is a sense of release in every stretch, giving in the act of receiving and stillness at the core of action.

Confucius explained that “It is easy to go to extremes: it is hard to stand firm in the middle.” Yet finding the Middle Way is one of the secrets to unlocking the greatest potential for achieving long term success as an author in the world.
